Principal Process/Mechanical Engineer

Aurecon’s Energy and Resources team based in Perth considers itself a key player in the future of the resources industry in Western Australia. The team is primarily responsible for the provision of design and design management services required to support the planning, scoping, estimating and delivery of a wide range of project types from inception to implementation and asset management.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy and Resources Team in the Perth office, focusing in the areas of Tailings and Piping.

The Role:

  • Manage a team of engineers
  • Business Development, play an active role in securing work, building relationship and growing the team
  • Leading detailed design and documentation
  • Pre-feasibility studies and preliminary engineering
  • Concept reviews and acting as an independent verifier for detailed designs
  • Tailings engineering solutions
  • Pumping and piping design
  • Hydraulic modelling (including experience with hydraulic modelling software ie FluidFlow, PipeFlo, WaterGems)
  • Optimisation strategies

Key responsibilities

You will be responsible for designing and managing the delivery of wide range of project sizes with key responsibilities as follows:

  • Project scoping, site investigation, and option study;
  • Identify opportunity for innovation and facilitate Safety in Design;
  • Ensuring technical quality of the deliverables through implementation of design verification;

About You:

  • The ability to lead the technical delivery of projects and work within teams which will have both a strong local component but also connecting with professionals interstate and overseas
  • Existing client relationship and business development skills, with a desire to maintain our client experience standards
  • The ability to work alongside existing leaders and drive the performance of those around you and the engineers in your team
  • Comfort and a willingness to grow the technical capability of early career professionals
