Environmental Scientist - Contaminated Land Specialist

Aurecon’s global Advisory business provides expertise across many key markets, including Land Infrastructure, Defence, Asset Management, and Environmental Management. Our Queensland Advisory Team possess a strong capability within the Environment and Planning field from project planning and feasibility to construction on a wide range of projects including major infrastructure in roads, rail, energy, industrial and port facilities across Queensland and Australia.

Our current committed and projected workload provides unique and specific opportunities for experienced Contaminated Land Professionals, Scientists or Engineers to join the team in our Brisbane office. The roles offer diverse, interesting and challenging work with the opportunity to make your mark in a consulting environment.

The preferred candidate will have worked in an environmental or soil scientist/engineer capacity for the government or private sectors, ideally within a similar professional services or consultancy environment with 5 to 10 years’ experience. Client side project management experience would also be highly regarded. 

The key role requirements will include:

  • Leading fieldwork teams and conducting soil, groundwater and soil gas sampling and groundwater well installation
  • Providing high value contaminated land investigations and technical advice on a variety of projects
  • Data quality assessments, Tier 1 risk assessment and reporting to ASC NEPM requirements
  • Developing reports to exceptional technical and editorial standard and the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Proposal and project management support to the land contamination and soils team 

As an ideal candidate for the positions you should possess:

  • Degree in environmental engineering or science disciplines.
  • Relevant experience in undertaking contaminated land and/or groundwater investigations
  • Sound and practised understanding of ASC NEPM and relevant legislation
  • A desire to deliver exceptional client experiences
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Australian citizenship, or ability to obtain citizenship in future.
  • Australian Defence Force baseline security clearance, or ability to obtain clearance.
  • Current drivers license.
  • Project management experience (desired).
