The continued growth of our business places an increasing reliance on our procurement team to maintain the quality of our supply chain, and an opportunity now exists for a Category Manager to join the team at our prestigious Docklands office in Melbourne.

Reporting to the Global Leader Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, the successful candidate will take full ownership of designated Categories and sub-categories and drive value for money, delivery of quality services and alignment of the business needs with the relevant plans and strategies We are looking for a self-starter and with relevant tertiary qualifications combined with a minimum of three years' experience in a category management role in a similar industry. Management of ICT, Travel and Vehicle Fleet Management categories would be particularly advantageous.

Typical responsibilities will include;

  • Developing and implementing a category management strategy to deliver successful outcomes in sourcing events and contract management for designated categories.
  • Evaluating sourcing scenarios and developing sourcing strategies for discussion with stakeholders and endorsement
  • Contributing to the end-to-end "go to market" process including development of RFI, RFP and RFQ evaluation plans, specifications and weighting criteria
  • Ensuring probity throughout sourcing activities
  • Identifying risks to sourcing outcomes and developing appropriate risk mitigation strategies
  • Managing the implementation of contracts including all associated documentation, reporting and administration
  • Facilitating ongoing vendor performance management
  • Working with key stakeholders in the IT and Travel departments to ensure alignment with strategic and operational objectives of those departments
  • Working with Strategic Sourcing and Procurement team management and peers to develop performance targets and KPIs and strategies to achieve these
  • Analysing and identifying root causes of poor performance and developing action plans, in consultation with both customers and suppliers to improve performance
