Principal Analysts / Senior Analysts

Currently APRA has a number of opportunities for banking analysts and risk professionals to perform the critical role of supervising the financial institutions we regulate. We are seeking motivated and dynamic individuals from Analyst level (with a few years industry experience) through to Principal Analyst level (highly experienced industry professionals) to join our frontline supervision teams.

In these roles you will:

  • analyse and monitor the financial position and outlook of banks;
  • assess the risk profile of banks, including credit, market, liquidity risks, and the effectiveness of their control systems; and

  • proactively identify and manage potential problem situations and at-risk institutions.

  • engage closely with institutions to ensure ongoing prudent risk management within the institution;

  • produce succinct, accurate and timely analysis and briefings for executives and senior management;

  • develop strategies to manage existing and emerging prudential risks;

To be successful in this role you will have strong communication and stakeholder management skills, being able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally. You will have the ability to work collaboratively with large stakeholder groups to achieve the required supervisory outcomes.

Demonstrate experience in identifying and assessing banking-related risks, and developing effective solutions to address them will be essential along with the ability to be to apply analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) in a collaborative team environment. Tertiary qualifications in finance-related disciplines (economics, finance, law, accounting, commerce or any other relevant discipline), financial sector experience, or a transferable skillset from previous experience or studies is required.
