About The Role

Role Location: 833 Collins St. Docklands, Melbourne, VIC

Role Type: Full-time, Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lawyer to join the Australia Retail Legal Team. Your key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with law, internal processes, policies and procedures while also improving knowledge sharing, document simplification and training.

A self-starter, you must be willing to go the extra mile in ensuring internal customers are provided with quality legal services, and with a particular focus on being commercially astute, proactive, efficient and 'adding value'. You will also have the opportunity to support other team members in mentoring and coaching.

About You

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • Bachelor of Laws and admission to practice as a legal practitioner in Victoria.
  • Proven post admission experience in a law firm (or equivalent position in a corporation) with strong commercial law knowledge. Retail financial services law knowledge is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technically accurate, commercially astute and succinct legal advice.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, and experience mentoring lawyers.
  • Strong diplomacy, problem-solving and decision making abilities and ability to proactively influencing outcomes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal and time management skills.
