Payroll Accountant

Part time Payroll Accountant. 30 hours per week with flexible working hours.

This is a newly created, highly specialised role within our payroll team, reporting to the Payroll Manager. The Payroll Accountant is a part time permanent role, with the primary purpose of contributing to all accounting and tax processes associated with the company's fortnightly, monthly and annual payroll cycles and provides quality service to customers and stakeholders whilst assisting the Payroll Manager and Payroll Team Leader as required. We can offer flexibility around working hours.

You'll be responsible for:

Interface General Ledger and setting up reports to review GL settings in line with internal audit requirements and finance coding.

Ensure tax payments are made such as payroll tax and PAYG tax

Conducting reconciliations relevant to payroll related Balance Sheet accounts and work through issues identified

Processing fortnightly Superannuation Contribution Guarantee through Superstream

Banking journals

Conducting Workers Compensation and payroll tax Annual Returns and establish automation for Payroll Tax and Workers Compensation

Manage and ensure accuracy of various payroll processes such as Annual Leave, LSL provisions, Expat Quarterly invoicing and reconciliation and the automation and maintenance of on costs for Leave Accruals and end of month leave adjustments.

Process Documentation and Checklists for processes highlighting controls in processes

Managing daily priorities to ensure the most urgent queries are identified and rectified or escalated as required.

Ensuring payroll accounting operations remain within risk and compliance requirements.

Ensure that all milestones and deadlines are met with focus and work is completed with absolute accuracy.

Important to your success:

Relevant tertiary degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred

Minimum 4 + years' experience in a payroll accountant role in a high volume pay run environment (min 500 employees+)

Intermediate to advanced excel

Experience with Australian Super, leave and tax.

Experience with General Ledger reconciliations.

Comprehensive knowledge of basic payroll procedures, organisational structure, awards and organisational policies.

High attention to detail, is thorough and accurate with an ability to quickly identify errors or inconsistencies within information.

Able to be proactive and use initiative

Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.

Able to identify, analyse and assess risks inherent to the business and put in place appropriate controls / actions to manage the risks for future sustainability.

Demonstrated evidence of technical proficiency with systems (ie Preceda), software, databases, presentation, reporting and communication tools.
