About the opportunity

Are you looking for challenge and variety in your next role? Do you enjoy working in a diverse and inclusive environment? We currently have a permanent vacancy for a HR Consultant working at our Wagerup Refinery on a Monday to Friday roster.

As the HR Consultant you will be the conduit for ensuring optimum efficiency in our HR policies and processes whilst being accountable for the implementation and delivery of employee relations and behaviour mentoring and management coaching. A key driver in providing essential advice to the site leadership team.

Other primary responsibilities will include

  • Participation in project activities, including improving employee engagement, succession plan development, review and implementation of Alcoa standards and processes, policy review, change management and corporate projects.
  • The provision of advice and direction to your customers in ethical and legislative compliance.
  • Service provision including performance management support, compensation advice, attendance management system, Workday user support and developing recommendations on policy and process improvements to maintain best practice.

Critical Achievement Areas:

  • Maintain to an expert level, knowledge of current and proposed legislation and changes
  • Advise, coach and assist senior management on all employee relations matters
  • Develop and provide employee relations training to all levels of the organisation. The emphasis in this area to be placed on improving relations and developing proactive approaches to these matters

About you

  • Tertiary qualified to bachelor’s Degree level
  • Substantial experience working within a Human Resources or Employee Relations setting.
  • Exposure to working with a unionised workforce, heavy industry or the resources sector would be advantageous.

About where you will work

Wagerup Alumina Refinery is located on the border of Western Australia’s Peel and South West regions, 130 kilometres south of Perth, four kilometres north of Yarloop and 13 kilometres south of Waroona. Wagerup refinery employs approximately 600 people and of those, around 30 per cent live in the local shires of Waroona and Harvey.
