Wholesale Markets – Risk Analyst


Wholesale Markets Risk is primarily responsible for advising the Board and the Risk Management Committee on appropriate risk management policies and procedures to implement to monitor and report risk arising from wholesale markets activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Measurement, monitoring and reporting of market and credit risk for AGL’s electricity, green, gas, coal, oil, LNG and FX portfolios.
  • Oversee financial contract valuations including maintenance of market forward price curves and other related market data.
  • Assisting with short, medium and long-term market modelling – including assessment of impact of market, policy and regulatory changes.
  • Develop, implement and maintain appropriate risk analysis tools.
  • Articulation of portfolio risks and their sensitivity to risk factors to senior management and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to compliance and risk reviews.
  • Implement systems and processes that enhance contract deal capture, settlement and risk analysis capabilities and controls.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative or business discipline required.
  • Excellent quantitative analysis skills, including the development and application of mathematical solutions to modelling market factors.
  • High level SQL/Excel coding and development skills. With a focus on automating data flows and interpreting large data sets.
  • Experience in utility or commodity markets preferred.
  • Strong skills and experience in developing collaborative and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively propose practical, efficient and effective solutions to new problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
