Production Manager

The Role:

This is a high-profile, crucial role that will see you motivate and lead your team at Bayswater Power Station. You will manage the operations function in accordance with Macquarie’s plan and budgets, considering the broader AGL strategic plans and objectives. Your activities are to ensure safety, budget, output and other performance targets are met.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

Reporting to the Head of Bayswater, and being part of the site management team, you will be responsible for:

  • Safety performance coupled with identifying opportunities for improving safety standards, investigations and practices.
  • Plan, develop, introduce and manage change for improving safety, productivity, resource capability, systems or processes.
  • Assist Shift Managers and Maintenance Team Leaders in dealing with workplace issues and disputes.
  • Conduct meetings and consult with production employees and/or employee representatives and union officials.
  • Lead, coach and develop direct reports.
  • Establish and maintain standards of plant operation to achieve optimal plant productivity.

About You

We are looking for an accomplished team manager with strong business acumen to lead your team to drive productivity improvements and cost reduction. To do this you will need the following:

  • tertiary qualifications in engineering or a relevant discipline will be highly regarded
  • significant experience in a management role in a power station (or comparable heavy engineering enterprise)
  • experience in handling complex employee relations issues
  • proven experience in implementing change programs
  • detailed knowledge of power station plant and processes
  • knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to large scale production enterprise
  • leadership and management skills with an emphasis on interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
  • a capacity for investigation, logical analysis and problem solving
