Principal Technologist


As a key member of the Technology team, the Principal Technologist is responsible for proactively identifying and demonstrating the software, hardware and technology solutions that will enable AGL to deliver its customer product roadmaps efficiently.

To be successful in this role, you must have technical depth and a strong commercial bias, understand the potential models for AGL’s engagement with technology companies.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • support the CIO and other key leaders to identify opportunities or gaps in the AGL product roadmap which are addressable by technology
  • responsible for the handover of successful projects to the relevant business units, ensuring that the business is provided with the capabilities and knowledge to be able to integrate the project into its activities
  • maintain targeted and relevant database of players and products in important technology sectors
  • provide regular updates to key executive-level reports outlining external and internal progress in highly relevant energy technologies (battery storage, hydrogen, EVs, blockchain, etc.)
  • support the AGL corporate development team in technical aspects of due diligence activities when opportunities arise

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • proven record in research and development, innovation and commercialization of projects
  • strong background in energy and information technology markets
  • ability to communicate and influence across both business and technology teams
  • previous experience working in large organisations where you would have taken initiatives to delivering business outcomes
