IT Category Manager - Technology Procurement


As the Category Manager - Technology you will have the functional responsibility for delivering AGL’s procurement category strategy, driving efficiency, continuous improvement, innovation, lowest total cost and forging stronger partnerships with internal stakeholders and our suppliers.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop category plans, strategy, sourcing and the development of commercial agreements
  • Develop and execution of Strategic Sourcing Activity
  • Support the Contract governance and supplier relationship management plan
  • Provide Procurement and Category Management leadership including the development of sourcing strategies
  • Identify benefit opportunities across the Technology portfolio
  • Ensure health, safety and environment policies are adhered too across AGL

As a Category professional you will hold a solid grounding in Category Management and be eager to take the next step in a fast-paced dynamic environment. More importantly, you will have strong people skills, enabling you to work with a diverse team that gets the best out of each other.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and a demonstrated capacity to develop viable business cases
  • The ability to assist in translating business drivers, and challenges, into requirements for inclusion in tender documents
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a complex, business matrix management environment
  • Ability to display and demonstrate an inherent capability to use effective negotiating and influencing skills in a consultative and constructive manner
  • Work effectively in a team assisting colleagues to complete tasks and achieve team KPI’s and timelines in accordance with AGL policies and procedures
  • Developed and maintained effective relationships with other departments and external agencies as related to job role
  • Tertiary qualifications associated with Procurement; Business, Commerce or Law is preferred, and/or extensive experience in developing and managing medium to large scale sourcing functions and contract negotiations
  • MCIPS Procurement qualification, or Postgraduate qualifications an advantage
