Head of Product Portfolio Strategy


About The Role

As the Head of Product & Portfolio Strategy, you will report to the General Manager Product & Portfolio and lead the business unit’s strategy, drive integrated roadmap development and ensure close collaboration with cross functional teams.

In this high profile and diverse role, you will work closely with the Customer Insights team to inform corporate strategy with relevant insights, best practice and competitor dynamics, while ensuring and nurturing a high performing and engaged workforce.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Build the integrated Product & Portfolio strategy in line with Growth Pathways and Customer Strategy
  • Support the peer group across Product & Portfolio to facilitate strategy in each function
  • Integrate performance management – identification of critical Product & Portfolio plans and metrics requiring ownership, management and monitoring
  • Deliver and implement required actions to establish tracking and reporting on Product & Portfolio performance to plan
  • Generate commercial and actionable insights with respect to market, customer, competitors and business performance
  • Consider the changing political and regulatory environment and impacts to existing and future Product and Portfolio strategy
  • Facilitate executive materials and board papers within the division
  • Contribute to the Customer Markets Strategy working closely with peers across Customer Strategy and Marketing and Customer Channels to develop integrated strategy and planning
  • Evaluate and approve business cases to support initial value assessment of ideas across the Product & Portfolio team

About You

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Application of HCD, Agile and other ways of working for improved performance outcomes
  • A minimum of five years leading strategic development across diverse business areas and functional disciplines
  • Strong facilitation and planning capabilities including demonstrated experience in cross functional planning and monitoring
  • Extensive experience in a role with transferrable or relatable skills including but not limited to product, proposition or marketing disciplines
  • Willingness and ability to effectively engage with key internal stakeholders and cross functional business areas across AGL
  • Experience managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders at various levels including Executive level
  • Tertiary qualifications in either economics, finance, business, marketing, accounting or similar discipline
  • Self-motivation and be able to work under pressure with little direction in a fast paced complex environment
  • Management consulting experience would be seen as favorable and experience in customer focused retail services industries is preferred
