Create and deliver a program of technology and culture transformation across IST focused on relentless automation, including DevOps, infrastructure automation, system management automation and project management automation. The role will draw to together and expand on existing teams’ work in these spaces, continuously delivering capability back into the organisation over a 2-year timeframe. This program of work forms a key stream within the Future IST program.
About the Role
AGL IT has been transforming from traditional enterprise development into agile product engineering. A part of this process there has been a strong focus on end-to-end sustainability with a DevOps mindset, which has built up significant momentum to date with teams embracing a culture of continuous improvement.
Traditionally, the IT group has been asked to automate business services; it is now time for the group to leverage its skills in automating its own delivery and operational services.
Relentless automation cuts across every team and every process, and as such there is an opportunity to draw on existing teams to create a single programme of automation, connecting development, infrastructure and operations across IST. This program will bring people together in a project structure for a fixed period, with the intent to accelerate the automation of key processes in IST. At its completion, we will have empowered our delivery and support teams to execute more quickly and efficiently.
As the Head of IT Automation, you will build these automation capabilities across software development, environment (including infrastructure and cloud), monitoring, management and process automation. You will also be responsible for the cultural and process changes required to derive the benefits from the automation capabilities being created.
We are seeking a technologist who can collaborate across IT, managing both an internal team and an expanded virtual team across the delivery value chain. This person will create the AGL specific “Platform-as-a-Service” that will be transitioned and owned by the platform teams to improve time-to-market, quality and efficiency.
AGL’s IT Automation program will run over a 2-year period, as such this opportunity is being offered as a 24-month max term contract. This role supports flexible working.
