About the Role

The Group Accounting and Reporting team is responsible for the accounting of a number of business units, corporate and group wide functions, the Group’s consolidation and external reporting.

The role of Group Reporting Accountant is principally responsible for preparing the statutory reporting requirements including managing relevant processes related to this.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Preparing the external financial reporting requirements for half year and full year end reporting. This includes:
    • Preparation of relevant financial statements, notes to the financial statements, consolidation entries and reconciliations;
    • Documentation of the key processes, sources of information, assumptions and other items as relevant that lead to the compilation of the financial statements;
    • Preparation of subsidiary financial accounts;
    • Liaison with external service providers (e.g actuaries) to provide inputs into statutory accounts;
    • Research and benchmarking on bast practice and emerging financial reporting trends;
    • Preparation of Board and Audit Committee papers; and
    • Management of the external audit process
  • Perform analysis and activities at a Group level as required by key stakeholders
  • Performing the SME role for the business on project and general ledger code enquiries
  • Prepare and reconcile statutory cash flow including reconciliation and assistance to business unit preparers to resolve reconciliation differences
  • Identify improvement opportunities and process efficiencies, and move to implement changes as a result (as appropriate)
  • Provide back up and support to the wider Group Accounting and Reporting team

About You

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills – able to interact effectively with both finance and non-finance people
  • Technically competent – high level of understanding of consolidation accounting
  • Commercial – able to look beyond the numbers and understand commercial drivers and desired outcomes
  • Process focused – able to drive a process to completion and keep stakeholders informed
  • Self-starter – proactive and able to manage priorities with limited supervision and direction
  • Team player – works as part of a team to deliver on shared objectives, shares experience and knowledge to help develop others regardless of reporting lines, contributes to team projects and deliverables
  • Attention to detail – delivers high quality outputs and deliverables
  • Experience with large ERP systems - preferably SAP
  • Qualified Accountant (CA/CPA)
  • Exposure to utilities or infrastructure intensive businesses
