About the Role
The Electrical HV Specialist is responsible for hands-on delivery of engineering, maintenance and troubleshooting activities associated with electrical, instrumentation and hydraulic infrastructure across multiple AGL assets in our Hydro/Gas portfolio.
This role is also responsible for implementing and improving electrical facilities, components, equipment and systems. It supports generator compliance programs, site testing & commissioning, condition monitoring, troubleshooting as well as scoping and supervision of electrical projects.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Perform testing for generator compliance program (Protection relays, AVRs, governors and transducers)
- Perform HV & LV condition monitoring testing (Tan delta, Sweep Frequency Response analysis and partial discharge)
- Perform routine and breakdown maintenance (electrical, instrumentation and support for SCADA system)
- Take a lead role in RCA investigation of failed electrical plant
- Assist in the review of asset management planning and strategies
- Provide engineering and technical support to internal and external stakeholders
- Provide technical engineering support and scoping for assigned projects
About You
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Electrical license and High Voltage ticket, post-trade engineering diploma highly advantageous (but not essential)
- Experience in HV testing and electrical condition monitoring activities on industrial sites (power / mining / oil & gas or similar)
- Experience in commissioning and decommissioning
- Knowledge on AS3000 wiring rule and regulation
- A current unrestricted driving license is essential
- Willingness to travel regionally and able to work autonomously in remote locations
