Commercial Analyst


We currently have a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for a Commercial Analyst to join the Customer Markets Finance team.

The purpose of this role is to provide financial and commercial advice and analytical support for planning, business cases, strategic and operational projects across the Customer Markets Business Unit.

As a Commercial Analyst you will also assist in driving continuous improvement opportunities in process and financial models used by the Customer Markets Finance team for management reporting, financial analysis, planning and forecasting.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial and commercial analysis across Customer Markets
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial analysis procedures, documentation, data and records
  • Assist with compiling and reviewing business cases, including financial evaluation of proposed projects and undertaking post implementation reviews
  • Assist with providing financial modelling and analysis in relation to project opportunities
  • Assist in delivering continuous improvement initiatives to improve the quality and efficiency of financial forecasting processes and financial models used for financial planning and forecasting
  • Assist in delivering continuous improvement initiatives to improve the monthly management accounting and reporting process, including developing/improving models and tools to assist in variance analysis across Customer Markets
  • Assist in providing analytical support to strategic and operational projects and adhoc activities across Customer Markets

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, economics or other relevant analytical discipline
  • CA/CPA qualification will be favorable
  • Demonstrated experience in providing financial analysis support to business management
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen to understand the dynamics of a complex industry
  • Advanced knowledge of excel and the ability to rapidly disseminate large amounts of financial information effectively (basic to intermediary VBA, SQL, M Language, DAX knowledge will be advantageous)
  • Demonstrated high level analytical and research skills, including the ability to analyse complex problems, identify issues, think laterally and apply analytical, qualitative and research techniques to develop appropriate strategies
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Holds self-accountable for delivery and regularly checks that own performance is on track at appropriate milestones, targets and standards
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, builds relationships with ease
  • Highly motivated, energetic, flexible, commercially focused with can-do attitude
  • Knowledge of S/4 HANA/ SAP BW/ SAP Analysis for office will be advantageous
