  • Key engineering role within our major power generation plant
  • Specialist role supporting generation assets
  • Based in the Hunter Valley, NSW

About the Role

Based at our Bayswater Power Station in the Hunter Valley this role reports to the Unit Plant Engineering Manager and provides specialised support for our generation assets. This role is key to the success of our business and will see you working closely with other senior engineering members and key external stakeholders.

Your primary focus will be engineering and technical support of the boilers and associated equipment where you will identify, analyse and develop innovative solutions along with defining, supporting and executing maintenance and operational plans. You will be making recommendations relating to contract services after tender evaluation and contractor performance, changes in asset management strategies, maintenance planning and the scheduled execution of work.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance, troubleshooting problems in boilers and associated systems
  • Assess plant condition and performance and assist with upgrades and capital improvements
  • Develop and deploy asset strategies, maintenance strategies and capital plans
  • Monitor, measure and report on equipment risk and condition
  • Manage the compliance to technical regulations
  • Prepare technical specifications and support the implementation of capital projects including project management when required
  • Develop scope of work for outages and major projects for the plant area of responsibility

About You

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A mechanical Engineering Degree that would qualify for Professional Engineer membership of Engineers Australia, with relevant industry experience
  • Working knowledge of power station plant or similar heavy industry
  • Advanced knowledge of boilers and associated equipment and/or advanced knowledge of steam turbines and rotating machinery
  • Sound knowledge of asset management processes, its development and implementation
  • Working knowledge of maintenance practices, operational and engineering processes
  • Strong commitment to workplace health, safety and environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, rules, standards and regulations
  • Proven skill in communicating clear and accurate information to individuals and groups, with strong team work ethic and ability to positively influence others
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve engineering issues, often complex in nature
  • Knowledge of SAP, OSI PI software and Microsoft Project is an asset
