Water Resources Engineer

Job Summary

Our Water Resources Team in Townsville has a fantastic opportunity for an early professional to join our innovative and collaborative group in the tropical north!

Our multidisciplinary team of specialists are at the forefront of digital solutions, including the use of numerical modelling, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and drone technology to support a range of projects including flood studies, infrastructure design, water quality assessment and geomorphic assessment. We are known in the industry for pioneering new technologies and providing innovative solutions to some of the most interesting projects across the North Queensland and Northern Territory region.

Joining our team means joining a team of industry leaders who pride ourselves on the delivery of water resources projects, particularly in the areas of flood impact assessment, flood modelling and flood management plans, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, drainage design, water quality and mine site water management.

Minimum Requirements

  • 0-5 years’ relevant professional experience;

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering work;

  • Demonstrated experience or understanding with water resource modelling and design packages such as TUFLOW, MIKE FLOOD, DRAINS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), RORB, XPRAFTS, URBS, 12d, CAD, MUSIC, GoldSim, OpSim, IQQM, Source etc.

  • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcMap and QGIS) - advantageous;

  • Good working knowledge of ARR 2019, TMR Drainage Manual, and QUDM; - highly advantageous.

  • Proficiency in computer programming languages (Python, C#, Visual Basic); - advantageous.

You are a problem solver who thrives on delivering high quality, sometimes out-of-the-box solutions for clients. Your drive and ambition, along with your strong technical capability will see you succeed in this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline, Water Resource Management, Civil Engineering or Environmental Science/Hydrology - essential;

  • Working towards, or interest in obtaining, RPEQ/CPEng.
