Team Lead - Town Planning

Job Summary

Would you like to work on a wide range of development facilitation projects for the public and private sectors, including inner-city commercial and residential developments or master plans and revitalisation strategies for regional cities, tourist hubs, major airports and some of Australia's largest infrastructure and renewables projects?

The AECOM Design and Planning team in Queensland is growing to meet the demand for a high quality, innovative and multidisciplinary planning service. We are looking for a Principal Town Planner with substantial experience and a strong well-balanced understanding of statutory and strategic planning principles, legislation and processes. The position would suit someone who is motivated and outcomes focussed, and who thrives in a dynamic environment where there is opportunity to grow your technical and leadership skills across a range of projects. The successful candidate will have strong project management skills and interpersonal qualities with the proven ability to lead team and motivate teams and develop positive client relationships and win new work.

Minimum Requirements

We are looking for a motivated professional who has strong attention to detail with well-developed interpersonal, presentation and communication skills who is able to maintain productive working relationships at all levels. Our team is driven to deliver for our Clients, working hard and diligently in a close-knit and collaborative team environment. The successful candidate will have a passion for what they do and show great enthusiasm through their work.

  • A qualified practitioner with a minimum of twelve years’ experience in a Town Planning role (12+ years);

  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary, consulting team is highly advantageous;

  • Proven ability to develop client relationships and win new work;

  • Ability to motivate and lead a team and work collaboratively;

  • Multi-tasking and a proficiency in time-management on day-to-day tasks is essential;

  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic, deadline driven team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level in Town Planning, or similar Master’s degree

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite is required while basic experience in Adobe Graphic suite (Indesign, photoshop, illustrator) would be advantageous
