Senior Water Resource Engineer (stormwater / flooding)

Job Summary

Due to recent project wins and general growth the Water Resources team are seeking a Senior Engineer with experience across Stormwater, WSUD and Flooding to join their Sydney based team looking after dynamic flooding and sustainable stormwater management projects across NSW and ACT.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Management of flood risk assessment, and the analysis and design of stormwater drainage, WSUD, creek stabilization and flood management infrastructure

  • Ability to scope projects, prepare methodologies and estimate associated effort in delivery

  • Find creative solutions to technical issues affecting the livability, ecology and built environment of our cities

  • Grow the business and your networks with various internal clients and external stakeholders

  • Technical mentor to younger professional engineers.

Minimum Requirements

  • More than five years of experience in the water resources industry including the private and/or public sectors

  • Core technical skills associated with stormwater and flood risk management, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, drainage and water sensitive urban design

  • Proficiency in a variety of industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software packagesi.e. TUFLOW, DRAINS, WBNM, RAFTS, MUSIC and, HEC-RAS

  • Demonstrated experience using GIS (eg. ArcGIS, MapInfo)

  • The ability to develop12d, CAD and terrain modelling software skills

  • Strong client focus

  • Knack for improving processes, scripting and developing your own tools to improve workflow

  • Can operate autonomously and as part of a team

  • A desire to learn from industry leaders in waterways, flooding and WSUD

  • Strong analytical, technical, graphical and report writing skills

  • Willing to learn about all aspects of consulting business, team management, project management and technical

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and verbal communications abilities

  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil and/or environmental engineering, and ideally a postgraduate qualification in water resource management.
