Senior Project Manager - Defence

AECOM Construction Services are client-facing Project and Construction Management specialists, providing advice and specialist assistance across all stages of a project’s lifecycle, from pre-construction through to handover and delivery.

At AECOM Construction Services we work closely with our clients to provide tailor-made Construction and Project Management solutions to meet specified client requirements. Our projects span a fantastic range of market sectors across Australia, including major Infrastructure, Defence, Aviation, Education and Healthcare.

Our Construction Services team in Brisbane are looking for a proven Senior Project Manager in Defence to work with clients in Project Management and Contract Administration processes throughout Defence project lifecycles.

The Role

The Senior Project Manager will manage or direct complex projects (<$20m capital value) with minimal assistance and utilize their Defence specific client-side experience attained in either a PMCA role or as a Design Manager in the last 5 years.

This is an opportunity to manage internal teams of project professionals, establish delivery strategies to achieve clients’ goals while achieving AECOM’s project directives and striving to consistently reach key performance and financial project indicators.

The Senior Project Manager will also be responsible for client management including the winning of work through the delivery of tender submissions.

Minimum Requirements

The successful Senior Project Manager will have a proven Defence background on Australian projects recently, alongside some of the basic requirements listed as follows;

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar

  • Approximately 5-8 years Project Management experience (or similar) in a civil construction environment, with recent exposure to Australian Defence projects

  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time, to schedule and to client parameters including a good understanding of project management frameworks

  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative, ethical behaviour in a client-facing environment

  • Strong commitment to safety and understanding of OH&S best practice and obligations.

  • Demonstrated experience working as part of a multidisciplinary project team on complex multimillion-dollar projects with responsibility for outcomes.

  • Experience in developing proposals, contracts and managing sub-contractor agreements in civil construction environments

  • Good oral and written communication skills, report writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate meetings with multiple stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead the development of tender submissions or proposals.

  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills.

  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and the ability to develop relationships.

  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.

  • Quality and productivity in execution of duties and responsibilities as outlined above.

  • Timeliness and accuracy of completing tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or similar in Project Management.
