Senior Pavement Engineer

Job Summary

Due to ongoing growth and several exciting project wins, our Brisbane Ground Engineering and Tunnelling Team is seeking an experienced Senior Pavement Engineer to join our group. This role will see you delivering a range of specialist consultancy services to various internal and external clients across highways, industrial, maritime and airfields.

The Brisbane pavement team has an extensive portfolio of projects throughout Australia offering you the opportunity to travel to work on a range of assignments. As a senior member of our team, you will have the opportunity to utilise your project management skills and be actively involved in the continued growth of our team.

Your portfolio will include:

  • New pavement design (e.g. major highways/motorways, local roads, rural highways, unsealed roads, haul roads, airfield pavements, heavy duty port pavements etc.)
  • Rehabilitation design;
  • Geotechnical investigation (scoping and undertaking)
  • Material testing and pavement management advisory services.

Minimum Requirements

  • 6+ years’ relevant professional experience - essential;
  • Consulting experience – highly advantageous;
  • Experience working with Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology and Department of Transport and Main Roads Pavement Supplement;
  • Experience working with the Department of Transport and Main Roads construction specifications (implementation of specifications during construction will be seen as advantageous);
  • Experience with Geotechnical Investigations including, scoping and preparing Geotechnical Briefs, engaging subcontractors, field logging, interpretation of logs and scoping of laboratory testing;
  • Experience analysing FWD and HWD investigations, back calculating material moduli (using Rubicon is seen as advantageous) and forward calculating rehabilitation and overly designs.
  • Experience in the design of flexible pavements, rigid pavements, heavy duty pavements (advantageous) and airfield pavements (advantageous);
  • Experience in using pavement design software such as CIRCLY (essential) and Rubicon (advantageous).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering (or similar);
  • Eligible for Chartered Membership with Institution of Engineers Australia (CPEng)
  • Eligible for accredited as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
