Senior Flood/Drainage Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a senior engineer join our Water team in Melbourne.

The focus of this role will be to support a variety of projects in the transport, water and urban development markets located across Melbourne and Australia. You will lead small teams of professional engineers, scientists, technicians and support staff to deliver flooding and drainage design packages for major infrastructure projects, as well as take responsibility for delivering a range of exciting water resources projects in their own right. The role will also involve leading and supporting business development activities, including client liaison and proposal preparation.

Your experience in the analysis and design of stormwater drainage and flood management infrastructure means you will have the opportunity to provide direct supervision, leadership and mentoring of junior staff to assist in their professional development. The role also offers a significant opportunity to establish yourself within a diverse and growing team of water resources professionals, and to ultimately broaden your experience across the wider water resources sector.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or civil/environmental engineering.

  • At least 8 years post-graduate experience, most likely in consulting engineering or a similar local/state government role, with exposure to medium-large and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

  • Strong client focus, high level of motivation and dedication and the ability work well in a team environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills,

  • An appetite for fast-paced major projects, and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.

  • High level of proficiency using industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software packages (eg. DRAINS, WBNM, RAFTS, HEC-RAS and TUFLOW).

  • Experience using GIS (eg. MapInfo or ArcGIS), 12d and CAD software.

Preferred Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will be a clear and confident communicator, with a keen interest in further developing your existing skillset but also broadening your experience across a wide range of projects.
