Senior Communication and Engagement Consultant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Communication and Engagement Consultant to join our Townsville team on a permanent basis, either part time or full time. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading the timely delivery of high quality communication and community engagement services, for a range of clients, across a diverse range of projects in the Townsville and Cairns regions, and beyond.

Minimum Requirements

A minimum of 5 years’ demonstrated experience working within a dynamic, face-paced environment, preferably in consulting. Experience in the design, engineering and construction industries is desired, but not essential.

Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, as part of preparing project-specific communication materials (i.e. traditional and digital) and working effectively with clients and colleagues.

Prior experience is required in:

  • Coordinating community consultation events

  • Answering project hotlines

  • Resolving complex and time-sensitive key stakeholder and community enquiries.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor degree in Journalism, Communication/PR or Business

  • IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation (desirable)

  • Proficient in Consultation Manager (CMS) or similar;

  • Community consultation event management skills;

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines;

  • Understanding of bid/tender writing and requirements;

  • A strong sense of personal satisfaction for providing a high level of service to clients;

  • Some flexibility with travel in short stints from time to time.
