Principal/Senior Urban Planner

Job Summary

AECOM’s Planning and Design Team has a critical requirement for an Urban Planner with particular skills in infrastructure and urban renewal developments.

Key responsibilities will involve work on planning proposals and major development applications relating to sites across Victoria to provide advice to developers, landowners, infrastructure owners and other clients. An in-depth understanding of the VictorianPlanning Scheme and the provisions of Federal, State and Local Council policies and procedures will be essential with significant experience in providing accurate and efficient development advice.

The successful candidate will also have experience of broader strategic planning across Victoria and have well-developed communication and analytical skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • To be engaged and active in the Melbourne property market and creative in the pursuit of opportunities.

  • Provide technical guidance for all planning staff, and quality control for planning output

  • Mentor junior staff in professional planning skills development, problem solving, project management, business processes, marketing, communications/ client relations, etc

  • To build upon relationships with land owners, Government and non- Government agencies, developers and industry specialists.

  • To guide, project manage and lead complex and high profile urban projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of planning legislation, regulations and guidelines

  • Extensive knowledge of development and planning processes

  • Ability to work autonomously and lead initiatives (business development and project related initiatives)

  • Ability to identify new project opportunities.
