Facilities Maintenance Superintendent

Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Superintendent leads a multi-skilled maintenance team in the safe and effective delivery of facilities preventative maintenance and repair across a wide array of systems and equipment. The Facilities Maintenance Superintendent provides a professional service in the supervision of an allocated functional area, including responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, scheduling, and training, mentoring and resource and performance management.

The Facilities Maintenance Superintendent works mostly independently, and is accountable for the efficient functioning of one or more teams, including the completion of maintenance work plans and projects, and ensuring high levels of service are maintained. This role also ensures that the maintenance planning function is delivered in a manner that maximizes productivity and equipment reliability.

The Facilities Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for a team of tradespeople, across multiple trade skills including electricians, cable technicians, mechanical fitters, HVAC mechanics/technicians, plumbers, painters, carpenters, plant operators, and servicemen. Within this team the Facilities Superintendent must foster a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives and technical advances.

This position works closely with other Facilities Maintenance Superintendents in the O&M team and supports the Manager and Deputy Manager Operations and Maintenance in the delivery of high-quality facility O&M services to enable the JDFPG mission.

Minimum Requirements

Proficiency in applying best practice operations, technical and management principles, well developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to plan, implement and manage strategic and operational requirements for Operations and Maintenance, experience in maintenance planning and execution in a team environment, demonstrated ability to manage team and individual performance to achieve business objectives. Solid experience in supervision and leadership, experience in a facility environment. Qualifications in leadership, management, and workplace training or the ability to rapidly acquire.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant trade qualifications and/or project management qualifications are highly regarded.
