Job Summary

The Design Controls Officer (DCO) is a member of the Design Team in Engineering and is responsible for providing overall project management of Engineering design services including the documentation of initial project requirements, production of design services selection criteria, technical paperwork generation, and coordination/tracking of the design stages.

The DCOs role within Engineering is to ensure that all design deliverables are in conformity with the Customer’s Statement of Work (SOW) and/or approved requirements documentation. In addition, the SCO is tasked with tracking all scheduled design milestones to include subcontracted services deadlines. The DCO must coordinate and liaise the developing design work with the Projects and Construction team as well as Operations and Maintenance team to ensure the design process is on track for follow on construction proposal and execution. As such, the DCO is an integrated position of not only the Design Team but also the Project Controls team.

Good understanding of construction practices and basic architectural, civil, electrical and mechanical design.

Ability to read and interpret designs, diagrams, and schematics.

Demonstrated ability to complete conceptual and planning and drafting requirements.

Ability to apply an iterative process while at the same time manage customer-driven deadlines.

Ability to translate design solutions to the quantifiable conceptual cost estimate.

Manage multiple design projects concurrently.

Proficient in MS Office applications.

Demonstrated diverse knowledge of architectural and site planning principles.

Understanding of US code and standards to include Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs)

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Strong team collaboration and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated planning and organizations skills including the ability to prioritize and work to deadlines.

Uphold the Code of Conduct and adhere to Program ad Company policies.

Minimum Requirements

Good understanding of construction practices and basic architectural, civil, electrical and mechanical design.

Ability to read and interpret designs, diagrams, and schematics.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree in an engineering or architecture with at least 10 years experience in facilities engineering or project management with design management experience preferred

Current drivers’ license
