Job Summary

AECOM has an opportunity for an

Engineering Manager to support our program in Alice Springs, Australia. This position is responsible for supervising a staff of engineers, designers and drafters. The person will be responsible of staffing, quality, technical review and will support corporate and program goals and participate in business development. The manager and engineering team are responsible of providing technical subject matter expertise including system oversight and troubleshooting support to the operations and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the design management activities and personnel under his/her direction on a day-to-day basis

  • Develop/maintain engineering standards and processes.

  • Develop/maintain system descriptions to support operations and maintenance.

  • Accountable for the coordination, and execution of ongoing O&M engineering support activities including work order processing, troubleshooting, etc.

  • Establish scope, work plan and work schedule and ensure this is communicated to project staff and department managers.

  • Develop, implement and administer operational procedures, controls and administrative systems necessary to meet contractual obligations.

  • Assure conformance with contractual obligations by ensuring specifications, drawings and other work be reviewed and approved prior to release to the client.

  • Ensure that programs are conducted within budget and on schedule.

  • Interface with clients on schedules, meetings and issues.

  • Advise senior management of the design project status on a regular basis.

  • Anticipate potential schedule or priority delays and initiates plans for alternative actions.

  • Assist in marketing and participate in project acquisition.

  • Monitor performance vs. budget and develop strategies for corrections before overruns occur.

  • Negotiate critical and controversial issues with top-level architects, engineers, and officers internally and externally.

  • Ensure AECOM initiatives (such as quality and safety) are successfully implemented.

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI w/poly security clearance.

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or architecture from ABET-accredited university.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of United States national codes and standards.

  • Requires operating application software including Microsoft Office suite and Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (AutoCAD).

  • Ability to read and interpret various diagrams or schematics.

  • Registered Professional Engineer or Architect.

  • Demonstrated intermediate to advance computer skills with Microsoft Office suite (i.e. word-processing, spreadsheets), Adobe Pro, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with drafting software, standards and processes

  • Possess ability and reasonable patience in solving problems using methodical logic or logic deduction approach.

  • Course work or experience related to power engineering field, theory in motors, generators or knowledge of industrial controls systems will be a major attribute.

  • Ability to read and interpret various diagrams or schematics.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, schedule and track work, resources and personnel.

  • Excellent oral/written communications and organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills .

  • Demonstrated ability to manage work performance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Course work or experience related to power engineering field, theory in motors, generators or knowledge of industrial controls systems will be a major attribute.

  • Experience with Experience with SAP and SharePoint basic administrative functions.

  • Experience with 3D CAD and BIMM.
