Job Summary

An exciting role has become available in our Perth office for a solicitor with 3-5 years PAE to join our legal team. The successful applicant should have a good understanding of contract law and government procurement processes as well as experience negotiating and drafting a range of contracts. Construction industry experience and/or experience managing commercial litigation will also be looked upon favourably.

You will be part of the AECOM ANZ Legal Team and report to our Senior Legal Counsel - Northern & Western Australia.

Primary Duties

  • Understanding our business and developing strong working relationships with internal clients

  • Reviewing request for tender and expression of interest documentation

  • Advising on the acceptability of proposed contract terms

  • Ascertain and understand contractual and commercial risks

  • Manage and negotiate with external clients and vendors regarding contractual, legal and commercial issues, including

o Tenders;

o Pre-signing negotiations

o Drafting commercial and legal documents and amendments to such documents;

o Life-of-contract events

  • Comply and assist with managing compliance of applicable laws, policies and procedures

  • Manage disputes and claims, including professional indemnity litigation matters

  • Review contract conditions and participate in the preparation of commercial strategies for key proposals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in law

  • Admission to practice in Western Australia (or eligibility for such)

  • Ideally a minimum of 3-5 years of post-admission experience

  • Demonstrated track record of adding value to a diverse and dynamic business

  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to prioritise and multi-task

  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
