Professional development

UNSW Australia

UNSW Australia fosters an environment that is highly supportive of our academic and professional employees throughout the various stages of their career.

The People and Culture Development Unit provide advice and services in relation to people development and cultural change to support the goals of UNSW Australia. The unit does this by working at the enterprise-wide level to support the implementation of the performance development framework and talent and succession planning.

At the Faculty and Divisional level, People & Development consultants partner with the Human Resource Managers to identify and implement development strategies tailored to the specific needs of the Faculty/School, Division or Unit.

Development support includes, but is not limited to the following areas: leadership and management, strategic planning, team building, conflict resolution and communication, academic promotions, career development; and emergency and safety training.

The University also provides specific development support for women who have a strong desire to take on leadership roles in the future, through participation in the highly regarded Academic Women in Leadership Program; and for the first time in 2014, the Professional Women in Leadership Program.

Human Resources also hosts the annual President & Vice Chancellor’s Staff Awards ceremony designed to recognise and reward staff excellence and performance.
