Parental Leave at AGL
During FY17, we announced that, from 1 July 2017, we are increasing our paid parental leave entitlement from 14 weeks to 20 weeks, providing greater flexibility for our people who are primary carers to take essential time to bond with and care for their new babies.
Parental leave utilisation and return to work rates are available in our data centre.
AGL Managing Director and CEO, Andy Vesey, said increasing the paid parental leave entitlement is another way AGL assists its employees to fulfil their work and family commitments.
Based on public reports from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency, AGL now offers the highest minimum number of paid weeks in the energy industry and, among ASX-listed companies, is second only to property advertiser REA Group, which offers 26 weeks paid parental leave.
“The change provides greater choice and flexibility for the primary carer to take essential time they need to bond with and care for their newborn baby, while also supporting health and wellbeing.
“It also encourages primary carers to remain as active participants in the workforce. We recognise the important economic, social and business benefits of paid parental leave.
“I’m proud that we are industry leaders in this entitlement provision. It creates a competitive advantage to attract and retain diverse talent,” says Andy.
